Construction on Vernon’s newest assisted living seniors complex on 29th Avenue is right on schedule.
The Hamlets that is going up on the site of the former Bennett parking lot will open in July.
H & H Total Care Chief Operating Officer Hendrik Van Ryk says there’s almost daily inquiries now about the 100 residential care and 48 assisted living beds and a sales office will open across the street in March to deal with the public.
“People from the community if they are interested particularly in the assisted living because those are all rental suites, they can come and ask some questions and there will be people there to answer them for them.”
Van Ryk says inquiries coming in are not all local.
“We do have 15 private pays from folks out of town, we’ve had a few interested people from Calgary wanting to look at coming into one of our care beds and that’s a good sign.”
Van Ryk notes the high interest is not a real surprise with their facility situated right downtown.
“People want to be close to the amenities, the hospital and stuff like that. We’re happy of course, but we are not totally surprised by the reaction. It’s been good.”
Staff for the building will begin hiring in March with move-in for the residential care beds to begin in July and for the assisted living beds after that.
