It’s back, Canada.
As ‘Roll Up The Rim To Win’ returned to Tim Horton’s this morning, the traditional mind grib is back for Canadians everywhere; how can we best boost our odds at winning some of the sweet prizes offered by Timmie’s?
For as long as the contest has been around, there have been secret suspicions that the majority of prizes are tucked away under the rims of larger cup sizes, for they cost more money.
The answer, however……is no. But in an attempt to reveal whether or not our suspicions are true, software developer Kent English created a website, ‘Roll Up The Stats’, which analyzes user-submitted data to determine prize distribution based on coffee sizes, regions and more.
So is the grand prize likely hiding in an extra large cup? Or are your odds just as good if you buy a small?
According to stats collected so far (the website currently has over 14,000 cups recorded), the size of your cup really won’t influence your probability of winning a prize…it’s THAT close (in fact, extra large comes in last in total wins – albeit, by an eyelash). And keep in mind, there’s no way for English to absolutely vertify the data being collected – it as, after all, user-submitted.
Still, awfully fun to speculate, isn’t it? And who doesn’t like drinking coffee with a chance to win a car? Now, if you’ll excuse me….back to rollin’. For the record, I’m 0 for 1. ~ Jason
