I know it’s only Tuesday but isn’t there such comfort in knowing Friday’s on the way? This Friday night, there will be three celestial events lighting up the sky at the same time. A “Snow Moon,” a lunar eclipse, and a comet will passing on in the same evening.
The “Snow Moon” is the full February moon: a lunar eclipse is when the earth is directly in front of the sun, which stops the sun’s light from reaching the moon, and makes the moon appear read; and the comet (with a really long name) as we found out from a Kiss FM Texter is known as COMET 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova. The comet shows up every five and a quarter years.
Hopefully the Okananagan sky will be clear on Friday night to see it all!
Where’s your favourite place to view the night sky from in the Okanagan? Maybe you can share your photos of this celestial event if you get a chance this weekend. TALK or TEXT 250-545-7557
Here’s to all you sky and star-gazers!
