The Vernon Watkin Motors Mustangs beat the Chilliwack Bruins 4-1 to win the championship at the Coca Cola Peewee hockey tournament.
Vernon went 5-0 at the event.
For the second year in a row, the Vernon Watkin Motors Mustangs will take to the ice in the final game of the annual Coca-Cola Pee Wee Hockey Tournament.
This evening’s game, the Amy Myles Memorial ‘A’ final, has the defending champion Mustangs battling the Chilliwack Bruins. The two teams met in the first game of the tournament, a hard fought clash with Vernon edging the visitors, 4-3. Puck drop for the final is 5:30pm at the Civic Arena.
Other action today to wrap up the 46th annual tournament will see Montana and Sherwood Park meet in the Mickey Ogasawara Memorial ‘D’ game at 10am. The California Wave take on Cochrane in the Mickey McMahon Memorial ‘C’ final at 12:30pm. And the Seafair Islanders of Richmond, who dropped an 11-1 decision to Vernon on Saturday, will go up against the West Kootenay Rapids in the John Kuly Memorial ‘B’ matchup at 3:15pm.
