I made a discovery when I was about 9 years old. I was sitting on the couch with a friend, watching movies and eating popcorn, when we started throwing the flakes up in the air and catching them in our mouths.
I turned to my friend and exclaimed; “it’s like playing with your food makes it taste better!”
We laughed and laughed and continued throwing popcorn and I’m sure my mom was upstairs wondering if I was really her child.
So it was really no surprise to me when I heard that eating cereal out of a square bowl while standing up makes the meal tastier.
According to a new study, doing these things makes the brain realize it’s being nourished.
The research was conducted by Special K who studied 78 women, aged 18 – 65.
The experiment suggests that more mindful eating is key, since more of us are trying to eat breakfast on the go nowadays.
I guess it’s kind of like throwing popcorn flakes up in the air and catching them in your mouth, rather than shoveling a huge handful in your face, but I might be grasping at straws here.
