The first day of summer is usually something to celebrate – but this news has certainly been a damper on THAT, lemme tell ya..
The BBC is claiming the world could face……..a COFFEE shortage.
The reason? Quite simply, most of us drink a lot of java.
Coffee expert Aaron Davis tells the network, “In Ethiopia and all over the world, really, if we do nothing there will be less coffee, it will probably taste worse, and will cost more.” Yikes.
The World Coffee Research Institute (who knew such a facility existed?) adds, “The supply of high quality coffee is severely threatened by climate change, diseases and pests, land pressure and labor shortages – and demand is rising every year. The logical result is that prices need to rise, especially for the highest quality coffee’s, which are the most threatened.”
Man, FIRST I learn that you shouldn’t really drink coffee until 10am…..now THIS? It’s turning out to be a tough week! ~ Jason
