RCMP are looking for a man in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a 69 year old woman earlier this week at Boundary Creek Provincial Park near Greenwood..
The incident occurred Tuesday between 9:30 and 9:50 am.
Police say a woman was driving alone on Highway 3, just west of Grand Forks when a man in a silver Toyota SUV drove up beside her, looked at her then pulled in behind her.
She reported being followed until she drove into the park to use the washroom.
The woman says the man kept driving westbound.
However, she says when she came out of the washroom the man grabbed her and forced her back into the washroom where the sexual assault allegedly took place.
The woman was then able to escape to her vehicle and drove to the Midway RCMP detachment.
Officers from the South Okanagan to Grand Forks conducted extensive patrols of Highway 3 and 33 but could not find the man.
The woman’s physical injuries were minor and she was offered assistance from RCMP Victim Services.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his forties, approximately 6 feet tall and of an average build.
He is described as having short blond/brown hair and was sporting a greying moustache.
He was last seen wearing a blue on blue plaid shirt with a western yoke and pearl snaps, pointed black cowboy boots with curled up toes, black jeans with a belt which may have had an eagle or a bird emblem.
He may have had a chain attaching his wallet to his jeans.
