On paper, getting $63,000 to be a live-in nanny in a scenic, historical property in the Scottish borders sounds like the opportunity of a lifetime.
The only problem? Paranormal activity.
A UK family is hoping that dangling big bucks for the position of nanny will be enough to convince a candidate to accept the job, despite the fact that they claim their home is haunted. The ad on childcare.co uk reads, “We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house, regardless. Five nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving. We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.”
Things that go bump-in-the-night aside, it DOES sound like a pretty sweet gig; 28 days of vacation per year, your own room, en suite bathroom and private kitchen. Well….private, other than potentially sharing it with Casper.
