For the third year in a row, the Washington Elementary School in Salt Lake City is using a herd of goats to landscape their campus.
In previous seasons, the 4 Leaf Ranch provided up to 200 goats to devour the overgrown vegetation. This year, only 50 goats were ’employed’.
The owner of the goats, Greg Cover, tells a local TV station that his animals work for $3,000 as opposed to a landscaping crew that was asking for $8,000. “We’re not hurting birds, it’s just a natural thing that’s been around for thousands of years. They’re the most efficient worker you’ll ever have. No complaints, they don’t take breaks – they just go to work.”
Not a bad idea. Only trouble is, as much as I don’t like my electric weed eater, there’s no chance of IT wandering off to visit the neighbors.. ~ Jason
