Lumby Mayor Kevin Acton is is excited about the possibility of improving access to Silver Star from Lumby.
Acton and others met with Silver Star executives recently to talk about the mountain’s ten year plan.
He sees a back road through Trinity Valley as potential second route.
“So we just wanted to travel up that road, see what it looked like. talked about the future of Silver Star and the potential of developing a circle route to the mountain and down.”
He says there are other things Lumby could be involved in with that.
Acton says he thinks Silver Star is advancing into a top resort fore the future.
“We just see it getting bigger and bigger and it’s going to have to overflow to this side of the mountain eventually so we’d like to be a little bit visionary and be part of a plan rather than just have it happen.”
Acton says there may be other things Lumby can offer to go along with that.
He adds First Nations would have to be involved as well as part of the road runs through their traditional territory.
The Mayor knows it’s a long way off, but he the conversation has been positive.
