Halloween has come and gone, and if you’re smart you gave all of your candy away to trick or treaters instead of having it around the house to tempt you every time you walk by the bowl.
While a chocolate here and there isn’t so bad, if you have black licorice around you might want to re-think gorging yourself on it.
A new advisory from the FDA points out that eating two ounces a day for at least two weeks could throw off heart rhythms. That might sound like a lot, but if you are a licorice aficionado that’s just your after dinner treat!
Health officials also warn that black licorice can lower potassium levels, and that pregnant women should avoid eating the candy.
Personally, I think the flavour is disgusting, so no love lost for me!
