In an outrageous attempt to become so simple it hurts, Tiffany & Co. have developed the product category “everyday objects.”
As the name suggests, they really have put together a fine collection of everyday things from shoe horns to balls of yarn, and protractors to coffee cans (you can see the full line here – and a sampling below.) By no means am I saying a ball of yarn, or a paper cup cannot be a decorative object in your home, but I will go on record as saying the prices are downright egregious.
I’m pretty sure you and I can pull off this list for under $25. So, for that fancy person on your list during the upcoming holiday season – you can get them simple everyday objects and tell them “It’s super chic and trendy right now.”
These five items have a price tag of nearly $15,000. To be fair, the ball of yarn is limited edition – and one of only five balls of yarn. I am particularly shocked by the Tin Can for $1350, the protractor for $575, and totally floored by the yarn – but the market is the market. If there are people who actually buy this stuff, I hope I never meet them.
I’m pretty sure I have a box in the basement that has most of this stuff in it.
Happy shopping … er … rummaging.
