This is crazy enough to be a real thing, and it involves two of my favourite things.
Aside from whiskers on kittens, coffee and naps rank in the top of my list, so when I read about the “coffee nap” my curiosity was piqued. I found this article in Men’s Health, but it originally comes from a study conducted in 1997 that compares the effects of coffee and napping on nighttime driving performance.
The general gist of the concept is coffee and a nap together outperforms either one in isolation. Coffee is absorbed and starts working on the nervous system within 30 minutes. They say taking a quick nap after drinking a coffee gives it time to kick in, while still allowing the body to reap all the benefits of taking a brief nap – they say it all can improve alertness and short term memory, as well as enhance your mood.
If you need me, I’ll be asleep under the coffee machine.
