They’re ALL childhood classics, but only three of the finalists could be enshrined for 2017. The National Toy Hall of Fame has just announced this year’s inductees and they ARE…
The board game ‘Clue’, the Wiffle Ball, and paper airplanes.
…well, two outta three ain’t bad.
The three entries beat out nine other 2017 finalists, including the Magic 8 Ball (not really a toy), Matchbox cars (how are they NOT in by now??), My Little Pony (another tragedy), PEZ candy dispensers (fun, but again, not really a toy), play food (ummmm…okay), the board game ‘Risk’ (first year nominee, it’ll get there), sand (what??), Transformers (bad movies, great toys), and Uno (yeah, I can see that one being a hall of famer too).
As you can see, I definitely have MY opinions…and you probably will as well.
Located in Rochester, NY, the National Toy Hall of Fame was established in 1998. It has since inducted over 60 toys, including Atari 2600, Dungeons & Dragons, Game Boy, Hot Wheels and LEGO.
Let the debates begin…..y’know, like how Matchbox cars lost out to paper airplanes, and how sand can possibly be categorized as a toy. What’s next? Snow??? ~ Jason
