Staff with the Regional District of North Okanagan have been directed to start looking at how the legalization of marijuana may affect the district.
Chair Bob Fleming says the district needs to know what the options are for addressing land use impacts.
“It was more in the line if retail, store fronts and so on and how that might emerge in the electoral areas and where it fits in zoning.”
Fleming says staff will try see what kind of provisions could be put into bylaws if the District wants to regulate recreational marijuana in any way.
There are provisions in place for medical marijuana.
