These shapes just don’t exist in our solar system, so when scientists found “cigar shaped” space rock (asteroid) that are pretty excited. They say it’s almost 10 times longer than it is wide, and based on its speed and trajectory, they’re saying it’s from outsiders over system.
It’s pretty crazy to think about this giant rock that’s been travelling through space without an assigned home for (potentially) hundreds of thousands of years. I feel a sense of shock and awe.
Here at home, we can do a little bit to bring “space” to earth with this “moon sand.” When I saw this, I thought of the family coming to visit your home this holiday season, and the youngsters that are bound to be in tow.
Before those kids get intensely bored, you can give them “moon sand” and it will be like their building sandcastles on the beach… Or on the moon, whichever suits the kid better.
What You Need:
– 2 cups flour
– 1 tablespoon powdered paint (or
– ½ cup baby oil
Step 1: Pour the flour into a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the powdered paint over the top and gently whisk the two together.
Step 2: Add the baby oil and continue stirring until the mixture is uniformly the consistency of wet sand.
