It’s a holiday staple – the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in New York City. Celebrities perform when they light it, thousands of tourists visit it during the Christmas season….it really is one of those images that helps define December.
But – what happens to it when the holidays are over?
Turns out, something great. Newsday is reporting that the Rockefeller Center tree will be repurposed after January 1st, and the wood will be used to build home for Habitat for Humanity in addition to floors, walls and frames in other homes. Each board will be stamped with an image of the tree and the year it was on display in Rockefeller Center.
