Coldstream Council is preparing to sit down for its budget planning for the year.
Council this week directed staff to come back to its Committee of the Whole meeting next Monday with preliminary numbers.
Mayor Jim Garlick isn’t expecting any surprises.
“So far, it looks fairly decent. I believe the last time we talked about it, it was in the three per cent range. There are some other things that we were looking at though that were possibilities. They’ll get those numbers back to us.”
Garlick does have one major project in mind.
“I want council to look at Middleton Way. We have a section of Middleton Way that actually needs to be rebuilt because what is there right now is inadequate. We need to start working towards getting that job done.”
Middleton Way is considered the next major priority artery and a realignment of the road is needed to fix it properly.
The next couple of Committee of the Whole meetings will be turned into Finance Committee meetings and an open house on the budget will be held on March 7th.
