Dozens of people were in line early this morning outside Beairsto Elementary School for french immersion – kindergarten registration.
Some had camped out last evening to make sure their children’s names were in.
Superintendent Joe Rogers says so far 83 children have been registered.
“If we have 80 spots in kindergarten and a year from now we can take eight more in grade one, all the people who lined up this morning should be accommodated.”
Rogers says the district anticipated there would be a number of people lined up.
“The principal was there at 7 am, handed out numbers starting at one and going as high as it comes. so we got to 83 so far today.
Last year, a fifth kindergarten was added when more than 100 parents applied to register.
Registration for kindergarten, new students and school transfer requests continues until January 15th.
