From the school of the obvious comes this warning – don’t eat Tide Pods. Because, against all wisdom……some idiots are.
What started as a silly meme about how delicious the detergent-filled gel pods are has exploded into dangerous – and outright stupid – shenanigans, as people are actually filming themselves eating the poison packs for a shot at their 15 minutes of fame in the ‘Tide Pod Challenge’.
To warn that you should NOT do this is, again, about as indisputable as advising that you shouldn’t do a fifty foot wind sprint directly into the path of a city bus. Yet, enough simpletons are taking the ‘challenge’ that YouTube has removed any videos involving the activity, and are working hard to remove flagged videos that violate safety policies.
According to ‘Time’ magazine, there have already been 39 reported cases of teens misusing the colorful laundry pods so far in 2018. Procter & Gamble, which owns Tide, noted that the company has been working with leading social media networks to remove harmful content that is “not consistent with their policies”. Which, I’m guessing, would include using their laundry products as edible treats. Bleccch!
Soooo….long story short…..don’t eat Tide Pods. Okay? ~ Jason & Jen
