Members of the public are going to be consulted about the potential sale of some school property in the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District.
The district wants to sell some property adjacent to Shuswap Middle School.
Government-appointed trustee Mike McKay says the 4.7 acres doesn’t serve any purpose.
“And it’s not conducive to use as a school facility in the future. It’s on a pretty steep slope next to the school, so it’s not something we could see putting an addition on, or establishing portable classrooms on.”
But a sale could bring in some much needed funds.
“We certainly have some areas of the district that could use some local capital money to improve facilities for students.”
A 30 day consultation period is underway with a public meeting to be held April 10th.
