Obscenities are one thing. But catchphrases could REALLY get you into hot water when it comes to one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world.
The Master’s Golf Tournament has banned fans from yelling the Bud Light catchphrase, “Dilly Dilly!”. Security guards have been told to remove anyone who shouts out particular catchphrases while the players are golfing, with special emphasis on Budweiser’s latest campaign.
A fan was removed from last year’s tournament after he kept yelling, “Get in the bunker!”
Not one to miss an opportunity, Bud Light responded with a tweet: “Your kind hath received word that the guards of the Green Jacket plan to escort any patron who dare utter Dilly Dilly off yon premises. Except for myself, I am against tyranny in all forms,” the tweet continued. “So, I have instructed my royal tailors to make 1,000 Dilly Dilly shirts that shall be delivered to Georgia in time for the festivities.”
If you’re not familiar with Bud Light’s ‘Dilly Dilly’ campaign, here’s a peek. It really IS quite brilliant… ~ Jason
