Alex (proper username: AlexBChillin) made a shocking discovery … well, he at least found it “mildly interesting” and posted it to Reddit. The discovery: A Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup without any peanut butter in it. The Internet (as it does) loved it.
Alex then posted a video to proved that the phenomenon was not staged, but a weird quirk that Reese’s quality control somehow missed. Some folks though the whole thing was a set-up, though Alex denies that there is any truth to those allegations.
Eventually Reese’s caught wind of this and was determined to make it right – as well as ‘surprise and delight’ with the hope of a little more virality. And that’s exactly what happened. Reese’s sent enough chocolate AND peanut butter to smooth everything over between them.
The closest I’ve ever come to anything like this is when it’s June and I’ve found the hidden stash of Halloween candy … when I open the wrapper and the chocolate is turning white. You know what I’m talking about? I still ate it … don’t judge.
