Former NFL kicker Jay Feely wanted to send his daughter off to prom on a humorous note on Saturday night, with the typical dad’s warning of “have a good time but not TOO good a time” to her daughter’s date. Unfortunately, the stunt has many giving Feely a few critical boots on social media.
Feely captioned the picture, “Wishing my beautiful daughter and her date a great time at prom #BadBoys,” as he brandished a handgun at his side, a clear indicator of his “expectations”. (The #BadBoys hashtag was a reference to a funny scene in ‘Bad Boys 2’ with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence).
Good clean fun? Not according to a majority of Twitter users, who feel that handguns probably aren’t the best prop for high school-related jokes.
As a dad of two daughters, I can certainly see the humor in Feely’s pic – but I do understand where some are coming from, given recent incidents in the U.S. Still – the biggest faux pas made here? In my mind, it’s the white belt. Dude, seriously?? ~ Jason
