The Boston Bruins were eliminated from the NHL playoffs on Sunday afternoon, bowing out in five games to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Or, in language that a certain Bruins forward can certainly understand, they got ‘licked’.
Despite the fact that his season is now over, hockey fans continue to debate the fate of Brad Marchand. The guy is a good player, as his abundance of playoff points certainly helped his squad – but his antics after the whistle do little to assist his team. To say that Marchand has a taste for instigation is putting it mildly.
Check out this clip of Marchand licking Lightning forward Ryan Callahan during the series. Yes. Licking him.
This isn’t the first time that the Bruin has, shall we say, ‘got up close and intimate’ with opponents; he once attempted to kiss Dallas Stars forward Patrick Eaves.
SO…what would you do if you were in the shoes of NHL commish, Gary Bettman? Suspend the guy to start next season and send a message that getting your ‘licks’ in isn’t necessarily acceptable behavior? Or should the league opt for the old time hockey route and let the players handle this themselves, however they choose to do so? ~ Jason
