Over the years, I’ve seen a few interesting things while driving. I’ve also hit a few interesting things. There was that one time on our way home from the drive in – a coyote ran right in front of me. Smack! Right in the middle of my grill. I’m pretty sure it lived, as there was there was nothing around when I went back to check. Please don’t ask why I went back to check on a coyote
There was another time, I saw a bird fly past the car in front of me on the highway. I thought to myself, “That was pretty close for those birds.” At that moment, smack dab in the middle of my windshield, I hit a bird. It scared the hell out of me. Then I immediately watched in the rearview mirror, to see if the car behind me he was going to be hit by that poor bird body. It was, but not in the way I expected. My best guess is: after making impact with my windshield, the bird was launched straight up in the air. Because when the bird landed, it looked like it was falling straight out of the sky. It reminded me of playing Duck Hunt as was a kid.
I’ve never seen anything like watermelons rolling along the highway. But then again, I’ve never been out for a rip on any highways in Taiwan while running my dash cam. While “Cooling off plans” in the summer often includes watermelon, this is not exactly what anyone had in mind.
