The City of Vernon is no longer blowing smoke when it comes to pot shops that haven’t been following the rules.
The City is allowing the existing 14 dispensaries to stay open, but only if they register for a covenant, and get a temporary use permit.
So far, 11 have done that, while three others are in the process of trying to do that, working with landlords and banks.
Two stores — which the City doesn’t name — haven’t been communicating with city staff.
They’re being sent a letter, outlining the procedure for being closed down, if they don’t comply by the end of May.
