Premier John Horgan says Cabinet has approved the recommendations for the proportional representation referendum.
In a statement, Horgan says Regulations are being prepared and the government will ask Elections BC to review the question, to ensure that the language used is clear and simple to understand.
He says Cabinet confirmed that if voters agree to a proportional system, a 2nd referendum would be held after two elections to decide if they want to keep the system.
“This is an historic opportunity to replace our old voting system with a new way of voting that works for people. We look forward to public debate and lively campaigns on both sides. Ultimately, the people will decide.”
