It’s been a busy day for BC Hydro crews.
They are still dealing with 87 outages, according to Hydro’s web site, from this morning’s wind storm.
Environment Canada says wind speeds reached 87 kilometres an hour in Vernon overnight.
Close to 8,000 customers in the Okanagan, Shuswap, Thompson and Kootenays are still without service (as of 5 pm).
Dag Sharman fro Hydro told us earlier, crews have to assess each outage and decide how to deal with it.
“We had 71 different outages, so those are 71 locations our crews have to go to, and then try to find the problem on that line, control the line and make sure its safe, find the problem and restore the problem,” says Sharman.
An outage affecting about 15 hundred people on Westside Road is expected to be repaired by noon Tuesday.
The strong winds blew down several trees in Vernon’s Kin Beach Park along Okanagan Lake.
