A normally busy Vernon street is closed to traffic for awhile today for a movie shoot.
The Nicolas Cage film ‘A Score to Settle’ is taking over 27th Street from 32nd Avenue to 35th Avenue from 9 until 2 this afternoon.
Craig Broderick, the Manager of Current Planning for the city, says there is one area where people might see some activity.
“With Beairsto School across the street I imagine some folks would be able to get a view of what’s happening on their shoot while they’re outside. Some of the shoot is inside the church as I understand.”
That’s All Saints Church.
Broderick says filming will continue in the Vernon area until Monday.
“We have been working with them on some approvals and traffic control, but they do have some locations in Coldstream, in downtown and in East Hill.”
The movie is a product of Minds Eye Entertainment and began filming in Kelowna two weeks ago.
Businesses in the area of filming remain open.
A Vernon street will be closed to traffic for about five hours Thursday for a movie.
The City says 27th Street, from 32nd Avenue to 35th Avenue, will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm to through traffic.
Settle Productions will be filming scenes for its latest movie, ‘A Score To Settle.’
Okanagan Film Commissioner Jon Summerland says it’s an independent low budget feature film starring Nicolas Cage.
“Canadian company – Mind’s Eye Entertainment. They started filming 2 weeks ago in Kelowna. The entire film to be shot in the region. Second film of 2018 produced here by Mind’s Eye. One more to come in September and another in March. Alone the economic impact from this one company is in the millions,” Summerland tells Beach Radio News.
Detour routes will be posted, and all truck traffic will be detoured to use 32nd Street.
All businesses will remain open during the closure.
