Visitors attending the Super Bowl last weekend in Minnesota, especially those from warmer climates, had a chance to take home something special from the land of ice and ‘Minneapolis nice’……their very own snowball.
Space150, a Minnesota ad agency, deployed a snowball vending machine about 15 minutes away from the stadium, hand-packing hundreds of frozen ‘keepsakes’, each placed inside customized canisters proudly displaying the exact date of their creation.
The vending machine held 500 snowballs, boasting that each were “hand packed by real Minnesotans”, and encouraged customers to “take one home” and “throw it a friend”. Awesome. Best of all, sales from the snowballs (they were one dollar each) benefited Wilderness Inquiry, a Minnesota-based nonprofit helping kids from urban areas explore the great outdoors.
Could this catch on in OTHER frosty regions? Hey, they sell lava rocks from a volcano in Hawaii…. ~ Jason
