The Vernon Winter Carnival has come and gone for another year.
Chair Deb White says Carnival in Wonderland was one of the most successful she`s been involved with.
“Winter Carnival was absolutely amazing this year. The energy from event to event and the community support was over the top this year.”
White says 12 to 14 events were totally sold out compared with 6 or 7 last year.
The Carnival did offer more events this year.
There were some obvious favourites.
“Suds N`Cider is the most popular but I think the Predator Ridge for Adult Party, the Predator Ridge Parka Party is going to give Suds N’ Cider a run for its money. It was really well attended. We got lots of good feedback on that. For the kids, the Lego Lunch was a lot of fun.”
Deb White says the parade also received a lot of praise.
“The costumes, like that’s what I’m saying, the people really embraced the theme this year, which was fantastic. But a big shout out to our sponsors and the volunteers because without them Carnival wouldn’t go on.”
Organizers are already thinking about next year, asking people to send in their ideas.
” We look at all the past themes. We look at the suggestions and then we look at what we feel the community can most get into. How will the costumes be. What will excite everyone.”
Deb says the board will meet next week and best events awards will likely be announced the first week of March.
