It’s never easy to say goodbye. Especially when you’re saying so long to a marshmallow who’s been part of your delicious breakfast for so many years. Alas, Lucky Charms is retiring one of their trusty soldiers from cereal boxes…
The Yellow Hourglass.
“The hourglass has been a part of Lucky Charms since 2008, but with any hourglass, its time is up.” a General Mills rep said recently.
When Lucky Charms debuted in 1964, the marshmallows – officially called ‘marbits’ – came in shapes of green clovers, pink hearts, orange stars and yellow moons. Of those original shapes, only the pink heart marshmallows remain.
While the hourglass’ replacement hasn’t been announced yet, they’re not revealing any clues. “You’ll have to wait and see,” General Mills teased.
