Police officers surrounded a Vernon home with guns drawn Thursday night to deal with a distraught man inside a house
The man was believed to be armed with a long gun inside the home in the 1000 block of 11th Avenue near Middleton Way
Other occupants from the residence were able to get out safely, with police called around 10 pm.
“RCMP members quickly surrounded the home and could hear a male yelling from inside the residence,” says Cst. Kelly Brett. “Minutes after the officers gained containment of the area, a male exited the home un-armed and was taken into police custody without incident.”
Brett says any incident involving a report of a firearm is of highest priority for the RCMP, saying officers responded to the call immediately and with appropriate action.
“In this particular incident, the male was aware police were in the area and exited the home un-armed and was taken into custody. No one was injured as a result,” adds Brett.
A 44 year old Vernon man, is facing multiple firearms charges, with a court date on Friday.
