People are asked to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity around the Salvation Army building in downtown Vernon.
That after a fire started on the south side of the House of Hope building on 32nd Avenue early this morning.
“It was just a small amount of damage. A receptacle needs to be replaced and there was some charring that happened to the brick on the south side of our building,” says Salvation Army Lieutenant Stefan Reid.
Reid says they’re asking people to report anything suspicious they see to the RCMP.
“We are requesting the community’s support to keep our building safe.”
That area of the building where the fire started has been where homeless people have been known to sleep.
