One man was arrested and another is still at large after a coffee shop was broken into in Lake Country.
Police were called by a security company around 3 am Monday after one man got into the store in the 11000 block of Oceola Road, and another stood watch outside.
“The store was equipped with a live monitoring security system and the security alarm company was able to relay the suspects’ movements to 911 operators as they watched the men on surveillance camera,” says Cst. Lesley Smith.
A blue van sped out of the parking lot when police arrived.
“Police confirmed the business was empty and the suspects had since fled the scene.”
The van was later found crashed into a parked boat and trailer near Woodsdale Road.
A police dog was used to find a 52 year old suspect from Calgary in a building on Pretty Road, while a second man hasn’t been found.
“The dog track lead officers across Highway 97 eastbound onto Woodsdale Rd behind a gas station,” says Smith. “While tracking the first suspect, Police came across the Blue Dodge Van which had crashed into a parked boat and trailer in the area. The driver of the van was no where to be seen but Police Service Dog “ICE” located his track which lead officers to a building on Pretty Road a few blocks away from the abandoned van.”
The suspect faces charges of break and enter and fail to stop for police.
