A Lower Mainland man has died in a back country skiing incident in the North Okanagan.
RCMP Cst. Kelly Brett says a skier got separated from his group of 14 on a Cat-ski run near Keefer Lake Lodge, east of Cherryville Monday.
“A search was initiated by the ski group on the onset of a report to the RCMP. A 51 year old Vancouver male was located in a tree well, unresponsive at the time,” says Brett.
The BC Ambulance Service air-lifted the male to the nearest medical facility, but the man could not be resuscitated and didn’t survive his injuries.
The death is not suspicious in nature and the RCMP is assisting the BC Coroners Service in the investigation.
