The days of the Vernon’s Royal Canadian Legion may be numbered.
A plea for new members to run the executive hasn’t seemed to produce results, with only seven members attending Tuesday’s meeting.
President Bil Balcaen says if the situation doesn’t change by the end of April, the branch could face closure.
“If no one has come forward, and the is no Legion left active, it would be the BC Yukon command that would take over,” Balcaen tells CJIB News.
Balcaen says they haven’t given up, and are still hoping to round-up new leaders for their next branch meeting March 20th.
“We’ve put everyone on notice, it’s time to make a decision, or we’re left out in the dark.”
The branch has about 150 members and has been around for 91 years.
