It was the weirdest goal of the season in the NHL, quite possibly a candidate for nuttiest goal EVER….the question is, did the refs blow the call on this one?
Check out the footage; midway through the first period on Thursday night, Alex Gologoski of Arizona shoots the puck into Carolina’s end. Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward skates behind the net to play it… unfortunately, he can’t find it. No one can.
Turns out that Ward failed to notice the puck had lodged into his right skate and, as the play was not whistled dead, he returned to his crease, his skate crossing the goal line in the process..
As you can see, after a brief video review, the officials awarded a goal to the Coyotes.
So what do YOU think? There’s no denying that the puck crossed the goal line – but, if I may, here’s my issue…..a play is supposed to be whistled dead when the official loses sight of the puck.
Didn’t EVERYONE lose sight of the puck on this one?!?
