The things businesses will do to stay alive when the cost of rent gets out of hand…
According to a new report in the New York Post, many NYC restaurants are charging their customers to use the bathroom. Yes, you read that right; come to dine, pay to go potty. Unbelievable.
The high cost of rent in New York is the primary factor, as many businesses – primarily restaurants – are not only looking at cost cutting measures, but innovative ways to generate income. Many establishments are using the Lulu app to generate a digital bathroom pass; people are charged up to $5 for the pass, and restaurants receive 65% of the fee.
The feedback? Obviously, not all are happy. However, SOME do like the idea of the bathroom pass, as they don’t have to buy food or drinks in the restaurant to use the facility. Interesting.
What do you think? Makes good financial sense, or……c’mon, REALLY?
