A new resident to the North Okanagan got updated on the no burning bylaw currently in lace.
The BX-Swan Lake Fire Department was called to a grass fire on L and A Road Friday afternoon.
Fire chief Bill Wacey says it was not a risk to nearby properties.
“It was a guy burning off fields, new people who didn’t know the bylaw, what they were supposed to do or not supposed to do, so he had it under control,” Wacey tells CJIB News.
Wacey says smoke from the fire was visible around the area, which led to some calls.
“It looked pretty nice (smoky) from the highway, but when you look at it from the top, it was quite fine.”
