Motorists in BC were hoping it was an April Fool’s day prank…but no luck.
The price of gas in British Columbia is expected to reach new peaks today, as a provincial carbon tax takes effect.
It’s the first of four annual increases to the province’s carbon tax, adding 1.22 cents to the cost of a litre of gas per bump.
A quick check on gasbuddy.com shows Vernon stations still as low as 1.18 a litre…(as of 9am Sunday) If you want to save as much as you can on a fill-up, it’s best to shop around, as an across the board rise is eminent…maybe even as you read this.
Premier John Horgan says he doesn’t believe BC drivers will “begrudge the increase ,” knowing it’s been earmarked to fund green initiatives…for now.
