This week on 1075 Beach Radio, as BDM Motorsports Vernon Vipers Hockey play-by-play announcer Graham Turnball mentioned, “It was a very humbling weekend”. The Humboldt Broncos tragedy resonates with us all for so many reasons. Today is the day when millions of we Canadians can show respect and support in some small way, which really isn’t small at all. The smallest gesture can resonate!
1075 Beach Radio fan and texter Dean Perry shared “Support for Humboldt victims , survivors. family friends, and first respondents,,doctors and nurse”s!

As well there’s been a tribute song written. 1075 Beach Radio sister station CKOM Prince Albert News Staff writer Sarah Wallace wrote this:
If you didn’t wear green in support of the Humboldt Broncos, today, just a reminder that coming up Thursday it’s a chance to wear a jersey to school (or work).
“Two Saskatchewan cousins are rallying behind those affected by the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy by writing a tribute song.
Tamara McDougall and Keelin Covlin, from the Pilot Butte area, make up the musical group Emerald Greene Duo.
“There’s not really anything anybody can do but this is what we do. We decided (the song) needed to happen, we sat down (Saturday) and wrote this little tribute,” McDougall said.
The two hope the song is something people can relate to.
“I know that, from experience, it’s not anything you’re able to relate to when you lose someone or almost lose someone that’s close to you but having something to relate to like music or this song, kind of makes it easier,” McDougall explained.
She said it took a few takes to get the song recorded because of how emotional it got.
“You do a line and kind of break down and restart, it did take awhile,” McDougall said.
She said the community response to their song has been great.
“There’s lots of shares on it and tons of reposts and views, I think just because it is relatable to the experience,” McDougall continued.
“I think it’s important to keep your head up and keep praying because there’s nothing you can do yourself.”
Deepest condolences to the family and friends of these heros#PrayForHumboldt

We received this photo and reminder from 1075 Beach Radio listener and texter Deena Camozzi “Can you throw out a reminder to people in Vernon to put out their hockey sticks in support of the Broncos and of course wear a jersey on Thursday. It’s a great way to show our support!”
Thanks to 1075 Beach Radio Facebookers Dave and Laurie Holton for sharing this, “Just a FYI, Canadian Tire in Vernon is raffling off an autographed Jersey from Connor McDavid. $5.00 a ticket and the winner will be chosen Friday morning. You can only purchase tickets on Thursday April 12th! (Today) Wear a jersey in support! The money raised will go to the GOFUNDME Humbolt Broncos.”

Social media has also been sharing this through Facebook this week from Dixie Looysen who said “Amazing photo taken at Humboldt today! Cross in the sunset. “
The Humboldt Broncos GoFundMe Campaign has raised over $9,00, 000 so far.
Our thoughts are with the families and emergency respondents!
Hold your family close. Maybe give a loved one a call today! I know I will be. And again, a reminder to wear your jersey today!
