Lumby firefighters are a still at the scene of house fire in the 100 block of Brookfield Road last night.
Fire Chief Tony Clayton says they were called about 10 o’clock.
“It’s fairly large. A lot of flame when we got here. We’re still here right now doing hot spots.”
Clayton says it took about four hours to get the major fire down.
The house was destroyed, but nothing nearby was affected.
“No, It’s rural. There was a couple of trees that got it, but that’s as far as it got.”
Clayton couldn’t say what started the fire, only that it’s under investigation.
A woman in the home escaped and was taken to hospital briefly for a gash she suffered when she banged her head while getting out.
