It’s out with the old — and in with the new at Silver Star.
The resort has started adding a new Doppelmayr gondola, which will replace the Summit chair.
Wesla Wong, communications liaison for the resort, says the three metres of snow on the ground may impact the July completion target.
“Yes we are still on track because we expected the snow to stick around right now. However if the snow does stick around longer than expected, that could to the key to our opening date,” Wong tells Beach Radio News.
Wong says the top terminal is built and some of the tower foundations at the bottom have been added.
The new lift will replace the Summit chair, which has been in service since 1970.
Each gondola will have seating for 8 people and will feature floor to ceiling glass for a spectacular view.
The new lift will take four and a half minutes to get from the village to the summit.
