The May long weekend is the official kickoff to the summer tourism season in the Okanagan.
Vernon Tourism Manager Ange Chew told us Thursday, hotels and motels were filling up.
“Right now, we’re at about 75% for our hotels and motels. We have some availability, so it will be great for anybody who is looking for accommodations this weekend to call our Visitor Centre. They’ll be open from 9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week, starting this weekend,” Chew tells Beach Radio News.
Chew says campgrounds and RV sites are around 85% full at last report.
She says events include a number of sports tournaments, and the 100th annual stampede in Falkland.
“It is a bit of a drive, but we do see some benefits from that,” says Chew.
