The Simpsons has been on air since 1989, and every year they continue to pump out episodes that are funny, witty, and sometimes predict the future. Remember in a 2000 episode when they said Donald Trump was going to become president of the United States? No one thought much of it because it was so far fetched, but it’s 2018 and look who’s in the oval office…
And that’s not all, just Google “Simpsons predict the future” and you will be rewarded with a whole list of times the cartoon got eerily close to current day events. So is it just a coincidence? Do the shows writers know something we don’t, or are they just lucky?
I’m no conspiracy theorist, but this might change my mind. Twitter user Adam Wooldridge posed the question a few days ago and has gotten quite the discussion going.
This episode, titled “Viva Ned Flanders!” is from 1999. As Homer and Ned are waking up, the Stanley Cup can be seen in the corner of the room…18 years before Las Vegas had an NHL team.
So what do you think? I know I’ve got money on the Knights.
