Vernon School Board wrapped up its last meeting of the school year Wednesday night.
The board went through a number of housekeeping issue, finalizing some board policies and getting a head start preparing for trustee elections in October.
Chair Kelly Smith says there is already some interest.
“There is usually an election for the four in the city of Vernon. Historically, not so much in the other two areas. But it would be sure great to have an election in all three areas – Coldstream, Lumby and the City of Vernon.”
Smith has decided not to seek re-election after serving seven years on the board, feeling it’s time for other people to get involved.
The nomination period starts September 4th.
“Anyone who’s interested running for a trustee should start to ask questions. They can get information from our website. And also then go to the BCSTA website. That’s the trustees association. They can get a lot of information from that site.”
Information sessions will also be held in September for potential candidates.
