World cup is here! That means for a whole month you get to hear your coworkers pretend to know tons about the sport, which in Canada…we call soccer.
Unfortunately Canada didn’t make the cut this year, nor did the U.S. so you’ll have to dig deep into your ancestral roots to find a team you’d like to root for, or if your smart just Google the best players and chant their name any time you’re near a t.v.
You might know a little bit about the 2018 football tournament (yes I said it, football), like that it’s held in Russia and that Christiano Ronaldo is the lead scorer so far, but if you really want to blend in and look like a pro when it comes to soccer knowledge, I have some tips for you.
The Independent has published a beginners guide on ‘how to look like you know loads about football’ and it’s really quite informative. There are even pictures from Chris (simpsons artist) as not to confuse you.
I think your best best is just to say “what a goal” or “come on football” repeatedly, and people will surely know you’re a massive fan. Good luck! Only have to wait until July 15th until this is all over…
