I hope you had a great Canada Day long weekend! I wore my best Canadian apparel and I saw countless others do the same, granted it’s pretty easy to be patriotic on July 1st…wear a maple leaf, some red and white, and you’re good to go.
You would think it would be the same for our friends south of the border with the red, white, and blue, but it turns out there is some room for error while dressing for the 4th of July.
Twitter user Dale Cheesman posted a photo of his grandma yesterday donning a shirt he says she wears every year on July 4th, for 25 years. The t-shirt looks very American, it has red, white, and even stars on it…but thanks to the World Cup, Cheesman noticed something he hadn’t before.
My grandma has worn the same shirt with red, white, blue, and stars to celebrate the 4th of July for more than 25 years. Every year, she wears the exact same shirt.— Dale Cheesman (@dalecheesman4) July 2, 2018
Thanks to the #WorldCup we finally noticed it's the Panama Flag.
Over 25 years of treason. pic.twitter.com/j9sLoWo9QY
Grandma has been wearing the Panama flag for over 25 years, or as Cheesman puts it (lovingly I’m sure) “25 years of treason.” The good news is people all over Twitter are saying this Grandma can celebrate Domonguera with them if she wants!
Happy almost 4th of July, America!
